Puppy and dog training with us is a balanced force free approach with an emphasis on positive reinforcement.  For this reason, a loving and trusting relationship is created with your furbaby.  Moreover, it also allows you to take back control of your pooch and life.  Through a variety of in-home or group dog school classes, you will learn how to communicate and motivate your dog.  On the other hand, if you have a puppy, avoid common mistakes and enroll in puppy 101 to build a strong foundation.

"A TIRED Dog is the BEST Dog" is the motto we live by.  Therefore, a dog that is too tired is less likely to engage in destructive behavior.  Regardless of your dogs energy level, we offer a variety of dog walking lengths for even the highest energy pooch.  Still, if walks still aren't enough, we can bike run your dog.  Or perhaps we can even train him to run next to your bike.  Additionally,  we can even help you take your walk back from your leash reactive pooch with leash training programs for you and your fur baby.

No one likes a smelly, dirty dog!  For one thing, dog baths at your home can be a big pain in the neck.  Alternatively, save your body and bathtub by bringing your pooch to us for a quiet, cage-free dog cleaning experience.  Most notably, all canine grooming takes place in the peaceful setting of a climate controlled garage.  Furthermore, your furbaby gets our undivided attention.  Our full dog bath experience is sure to keep even the most anxious furry baby relaxed.

Unfortunately, we can't take our pets with us on every trip.  Thus, if you find yourself in need of pet sitters, we have a variety of pet sitting options.  These options include: in home overnight, short term drop in visits, and even dog boarding.  At FurBabies & Friends, we love all pets, and our sitters care for every dog, big or small.  In the end, know that our loving pet sitters will provide the same level of care as you do.

Our Positive Reinforcement Philosophy in Dog Training Also Applies to All Of Our Pet Services

FurBabies & Friends applies a reward based positive reinforcement method to all of our pet care services, especially dog and puppy training.  We believe in this methodology because many reputable studies show the benefits of this approach versus a heavier handed, more physical technique from 20 years ago.  Old training theories were about showing "dominance," creating submission, or coercing compliance with the use of fear.  Understandably, no long lasting positive behavior change is made by instilling fear.  While these techniques may have application to life or death situations, like snake avoidance training or bomb detection, they do not and should not have application into the world of human animal relationships whether they are working or purely companion based.  Just like any quality human relationship, a human to canine relationship should be built on trust, loyalty and respect all while fostering a cooperative and mutually beneficial environment.  In order to help both her pet sitters and her clients remember the pillars of a solid relationship, owner and head trainer Kristie Halverson created an info graphic inspired by the great Aretha Franklin herself.  Kristie modeled her view on dog training and fostering a positive long lasting relationship with her own dogs off of Mrs. Aretha's famous sound RESPECT.

To demonstrate our professionalism and furbaby passion, we offer free meet and greets and dog training evaluations.  These meetings are a great way to build your trust and help you and your family feel comfortable leaving your pets in our care.  Clearly, these meetings are our interview so ask questions, see how your pets interact with us, and show us around your house.  Subsequently, understanding your animal care routine ensures we provide the same level of care while you're away.  What's more, we use the following standardized forms: Contact & Household Information, Pet Feeding & Care Instructions, Veterinary Release Form, Policy & Procedures and A Liability Waiver.
