Independent Pet Care Jobs and Contractor Opportunities

FurBabies & Friends accepts applications throughout the year for nonexclusive independent contractor opportunities. However, available services vary based on current client needs, location, availability, qualifications, and service interests. Therefore, an application may be considered for either current or future opportunities.

Applicants may express interest in one service or several. For example, some contractors may focus on overnight or daytime pet sitting jobs. Others may prefer dog walking, pet waste removal, or specialty pet and home services. Contractors are not expected to provide every service. In addition, they do not need to care for every species, size, age, or behavior type.

Because client needs change throughout the year, submitting an application does not guarantee an interview, contractor agreement, service opportunities, hours, payments, or income. Clear and accurate information helps us identify opportunities that may match an applicant’s experience, availability, travel preferences, and comfort level.

Types of Pet Care Opportunities

FurBabies & Friends offers several types of independent pet care opportunities. Applicants may choose the services that match their experience, availability, travel preferences, and comfort level. In addition, contractors are not expected to provide every service or accept every request.

Most daytime pet sitting, dog walking, pet waste removal, and Home Check opportunities are concentrated within about 15 minutes of the 85308 area. Overnight pet sitting opportunities may extend approximately 20 miles from Glendale. However, actual travel depends on the client location, service type, traffic, and the contractor’s preferred travel range.

Applicants identify their preferred daytime and overnight travel ranges in the application.

Overnight Pet Sitting

Overnight pet sitting takes place inside the client’s home. Depending on the booking, services may cover 12, 18, or 23 hours. Care may include feeding, medication when qualified, exercise, enrichment, and companionship. Contractors must also follow the client’s home-presence and communication instructions. Because many clients travel during weekends and holidays, overnight pet care opportunities may occur during high-demand periods.

What Pet Care Contractors Can Expect

FurBabies & Friends uses a mobile scheduling and service documentation system to coordinate pet care opportunities. Contractors use the system to review schedules, access client instructions, and complete service records.

Contractors should accept only the services they can reliably complete within the agreed client service windows.

Scheduling and Service Acceptance

*  Contractors record the dates and times when they are generally unavailable.
*  Time not marked unavailable means the contractor is willing to be considered for compatible opportunities.
*  However, open time does not guarantee that services will be offered.
*  Contractors may accept or decline published schedules based on their availability, qualifications, location, and preferences.
*  Once a contractor accepts a schedule, the accepted services become a professional commitment.

Client Care and Documentation

*  Contractors review client care instructions before each accepted service.
*  Services usually take place inside client homes or surrounding neighborhoods.
*  Contractors follow pet-care, home-access, safety, and communication instructions.
*  In addition, they submit timely notes, photographs, and required service documentation.
*  Contractors must report access problems, pet-care concerns, or schedule conflicts promptly.
*  FurBabies & Friends must approve service reassignments and update the schedule before another contractor takes over.

What We Look for in Pet Care Contractors

Strong pet care contractors combine practical animal experience with reliable communication, careful judgment, and respect for each client’s home. However, applicants do not need experience with every species or service. Clear strengths and honest limitations help FurBabies & Friends identify appropriate opportunities.

Pet First Aid or Pet CPR certification is preferred. However, it is not required to submit an application. Certifications, experience, and service-specific skills may affect which opportunities are appropriate.

Contractors are not expected to care for every species, pet size, behavior type, or medical need. In addition, they may focus on the services that match their qualifications and comfort level. Applicants should clearly explain any tasks or situations they would need to discuss before accepting an opportunity.

Understanding the Independent Contractor Opportunity

FurBabies & Friends currently works with pet care providers through nonexclusive independent contractor relationships. These opportunities are not employee positions. Therefore, applicants should understand the basic relationship before continuing to the application.

The written Independent Contractor Agreement contains the complete terms of the relationship. Applicants should review it carefully before deciding whether to proceed.

Contractor Choice and Commitments

* Contractors establish their general availability.
*  They may accept or decline compatible service opportunities.
*  Contractors may provide services for other businesses or clients, subject to the written agreement.
*  However, once a contractor accepts a schedule, the accepted services become a professional commitment.
*  Contractors must follow the agreed client instructions, service windows, communication standards, and documentation requirements.
*  FurBabies & Friends does not guarantee clients, service opportunities, hours, payments, or income.

Compensation and Contractor Responsibilities

*  FurBabies & Friends uses percentage-based compensation.
*  Qualified applicants receive compensation details during the selection process.
*  Contractors receive 100 percent of tips designated for them.
*  Contractors are responsible for their own transportation, taxes, ordinary business expenses, and other obligations described in the written agreement.
*  In addition, contractors must maintain any licenses, insurance, equipment, or qualifications required for the services they accept.
*  Applicants who advance must review and sign the Independent Contractor Agreement before onboarding.

How the Contractor Application Process Works

Our application process helps FurBabies & Friends evaluate each applicant’s experience, availability, service interests, and overall fit. Although the steps may vary by applicant, the process generally follows the path below.

Not every applicant will advance through every stage. Completing the application does not guarantee a phone screening, interview, background-screening invitation, contractor agreement, service opportunities, hours, payments, or income.
1

Submit the Application

Complete the online application with your service interests, availability, travel preferences, animal-care experience, qualifications, and contractor acknowledgments. In addition, applicants may upload a resume or relevant experience summary, although it is optional.
2

Initial Application Review

FurBabies & Friends reviews each application based on current client needs, service interests, location, availability, experience, qualifications, and contractor fit. Therefore, not every applicant will move forward immediately.
2

Phone Screening

Selected applicants may receive an invitation for an initial phone conversation. During this step, we discuss experience, availability, service preferences, travel expectations, and questions about the independent contractor relationship.
4

In-Person Interview

Applicants who continue after the phone screening may be invited to an in-person interview. This meeting allows us to discuss pet-care experience, client-service expectations, communication standards, and the types of opportunities that may be appropriate.
5

References and Background Screening

Applicants invited to continue may be asked to provide references. In addition, they will receive a separate background-screening disclosure and authorization through the approved screening provider. Submitting the application itself does not authorize a background check.
6

Contractor Agreement and Onboarding

Selected applicants review and sign the Independent Contractor Agreement and complete the required documentation, orientation, and service-specific onboarding. Contractors must complete all applicable steps before receiving independent access to client homes, pets, keys, or confidential care information.

Pet Care Contractor Frequently Asked Questions

Review these common questions before applying for pet care jobs with FurBabies & Friends. The answers explain the contractor relationship, available services, qualifications, screening process, compensation, and service area.

Are these employee positions?

No. FurBabies & Friends currently offers nonexclusive independent contractor opportunities, not employee positions. Contractors establish their general availability and may accept or decline compatible service opportunities. However, once a contractor accepts a schedule, the accepted services become a professional commitment.

Applicants who advance must review and sign a written Independent Contractor Agreement before completing onboarding.

What types of pet care jobs may be available?

Pet care opportunities may include daytime pet sitting, overnight pet sitting, dog walking, pet waste removal, and specialty pet and home services. Specialty opportunities may include pet transportation, Home Check services, and Wedding Pet Attendant services.

However, available opportunities depend on current client needs, location, qualifications, and contractor availability. Therefore, not every service will have openings at all times.

Are pet care jobs, clients, or hours guaranteed?

No. FurBabies & Friends does not guarantee clients, service opportunities, hours, payments, or income. Client demand changes throughout the year. In addition, available services depend on location, scheduling needs, and the contractor’s qualifications and preferences.

Submitting an application also does not guarantee a phone screening, interview, background-screening invitation, or contractor agreement.

Can I choose which pet care services I provide?

Yes. Applicants identify the services, pet types, travel ranges, and scheduling arrangements that interest them. Contractors may then accept or decline compatible opportunities based on their availability, qualifications, location, and preferences.

In addition, contractors are not expected to provide every service. Selecting pet sitting jobs, dog walking jobs, or another service does not require someone to accept every related request.

Do I need professional pet-care experience?

Relevant professional experience is valuable. However, FurBabies & Friends may also consider substantial paid, volunteer, or hands-on animal-care experience.

Experience may come from private pet care, pet sitting platforms, veterinary clinics, shelters, rescues, boarding facilities, dog daycares, grooming businesses, dog training, or volunteer work. Applicants should clearly describe the species, responsibilities, and specialized care they have handled.

Do I need to care for every type of pet?

No. FurBabies & Friends cares for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals, reptiles, fish, and other companion animals. However, contractors do not need to accept every species, size, behavior type, medical need, or care task.

Instead, applicants should provide honest information about their experience and limitations. This information helps us identify pet care opportunities they can complete safely and confidently.

Is Pet First Aid or Pet CPR certification required?

Pet First Aid or Pet CPR certification is preferred, but it is not required to submit an application. Applicants may indicate whether their certification is current, expired, in progress, or not yet completed.

However, certifications and service-specific qualifications may affect which pet sitting, dog walking, or specialty opportunities are appropriate.

Is a background screening required?

Yes. Applicants selected to continue must complete an authorized background screening through FurBabies & Friends’ approved provider. Background screening is required before a contractor receives independent access to client homes, pets, keys, alarm information, or confidential care details.

Submitting the application does not authorize a background check. Instead, applicants invited to continue receive a separate disclosure and authorization through the screening provider.

Where are pet care opportunities located?

Most daytime pet sitting, dog walking, pet waste removal, and Home Check opportunities are concentrated within about 15 minutes of the 85308 area. Overnight pet care jobs may extend approximately 20 miles from Glendale.

However, actual travel depends on the client’s location, traffic, service type, and contractor preferences. Applicants identify their preferred daytime and overnight travel ranges in the application.

How are independent pet care contractors paid?

FurBabies & Friends uses percentage-based compensation. Exact compensation details are discussed with qualified applicants during the selection process. In addition, contractors receive 100 percent of tips designated for them.

Contractors remain responsible for their taxes, transportation, ordinary business expenses, and other obligations described in the Independent Contractor Agreement. FurBabies & Friends does not guarantee service opportunities, payments, or income.

Can I apply if my preferred service is not currently a priority?

Yes. FurBabies & Friends accepts applications throughout the year for current and future contractor needs. For example, an applicant may submit their information for pet sitting jobs, dog walking jobs, overnight pet care jobs, or specialty services even when immediate demand is limited.

Because client needs change, a strong application may be considered later. However, submitting an application does not guarantee future contact or service opportunities.
