More Hands-On Dog Training Than Weekly Lessons

Day training and board and train are both intensive dog training options, but they are not magic fixes. They work best when the trainer builds a strong foundation and the family learns how to maintain that progress at home.

Dogs learn in context. That means skills built during training sessions, in Kristie’s home, or in real-life practice settings still need to be transferred back into your daily routine. Long-term success depends on clear rules, consistent reinforcement, and owner follow-through after the trainer-led work begins.

EACH DAY TRAINING & BOARD & TRAIN PROGRAM INCLUDES:
* Trainer-led training sessions
* Family review sessions
* Positive reinforcement training methods
* A complete training guide with educational information
* Detailed training instructions and exercises
* Homework worksheets for in-home practice
* Real-life relevance tracking sheets
* Access to Kristie’s YouTube training video library
* Guidance to help your family continue the work before, during and after sessions

Day Training May Be a Good Fit If:

*  Your dog stays at home while Kristie comes to you for trainer-led sessions
*  You want help building obedience, manners, leash skills, and confidence
*  Your schedule makes consistent daily training difficult
*  You want weekly family reviews and guided homework
*  Your dog needs more support than a standard private lesson package

Board and Train May Be a Good Fit If:

*  Your dog is approved for Kristie’s home environment
*  Your dog needs a more immersive training setup
*  You want daily structure, supervision, and training in a home setting
*  You understand that your family must still learn and maintain the skills
*  Your dog is a safe match for resident dogs, crate routines, and household structure

Dog Board and Train in Glendale, AZ

Dog board and train is a more immersive training option for approved dogs who stay in Kristie’s home for a structured training program. This is not a kennel-style training setup or a harsh dog boot camp. Your dog lives in a home environment, receives daily training, practices household manners, and receives structure throughout the day.

Because this program takes place in Kristie’s home, board and train is highly selective. Dogs must be a safe fit for the home environment, resident dogs, crate routines, and daily handling.

Board and Train Is Selective for a Reason

Board and train can give your dog a strong start, but it does not replace owner involvement. The goal is not just for your dog to behave well in Kristie’s home. The goal is to build a foundation, then teach your family how to maintain those skills after your dog returns home.

Dogs may fall back into old habits if they return to the same unclear routines, inconsistent rules, or unmanaged patterns. That is why this program includes four handoff sessions, a detailed training guide, homework worksheets, and real-life tracking support.

FurBabies & Friends is very selective about board and train because not every dog is a safe or appropriate fit for this type of program. Some dogs are better suited for private training, day training, leash reactivity training, puppy training, or another customized plan.

Dog Board and Train Requirements

Because board and train takes place in Kristie’s home, safety and fit matter. All dogs must be evaluated and approved before acceptance.

Dogs Must:

*  Complete a training evaluation or temperament assessment
*  Be current on required vaccines, including Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella
*  Be a safe fit around resident dogs
*  Be crate trained or able to safely rest in a crate
*  Be safe for in-home handling and daily routines
*  Be altered if over 7 months of age
*  Have a signed liability waiver before acceptance
*  Have family members committed to follow-through after the program

Size Requirement

*  Adult dogs must be over 40 pounds for in-home board and train eligibility for safety reasons.

*  Puppies under 6 months may be considered on a case-by-case basis, even if they are under 40 pounds.

Dog Board and Train Program

Positive Reinforcement, Not Harsh Dog Boot Camp

Some families search for “dog boot camp” when they want faster help, more structure, or a more intensive dog training option. FurBabies & Friends offers a different approach.

Our day training and board and train programs use positive reinforcement, clear communication, structure, management, and owner education. We do not use shock collars, prong collars, choke chains, fear-based corrections, or dominance-based training methods.

The goal is not to force compliance. The goal is to build skills, improve communication, support better choices, and help your family understand how to keep the progress going.

Which Intensive Dog Training Option Fits Your Dog?

Choose Day Training If:

*  Your dog can stay at home during the program
*  You want trainer-led sessions without overnight care
*  Your dog needs obedience, manners, and routine support
*  You can participate in weekly family reviews
*  Your dog does best learning in their own home area
*  You want a lower-disruption option

Choose Board & Train If:

*  Your dog is approved to stay in Kristie’s home
*  You want a more immersive training environment
*  Your dog needs a focused training jump-start
*  You can participate in 4 handoff sessions
*  Your dog is safe with resident dogs and crate routines
*  You understand that follow-through at home is still required

Need a Different Type of Dog Training?

Day training and board and train are not the right fit for every dog. If your dog needs a different type of support, one of these dog training options may be more appropriate.

For beginner, intermediate, or advanced obedience trained privately or through group classes.
Puppy Training

Private Dog Training
For customized one-on-one coaching when a day training or board and train program is not the best match.
Virtual Dog Training

Ready for More Hands-On Dog Training Support?

If your dog needs more structure than weekly lessons, FurBabies & Friends can help you decide whether day training, board and train, or another training option is the best fit.

Because board and train is highly selective, all dogs must be evaluated before acceptance. Day training availability also depends on location, goals, schedule, and training needs.

Dog Board and Train & Day Training F.A.Q.s

What is dog board and train?

Dog board and train is an immersive training program where your dog stays with the trainer for a structured training period. At FurBabies & Friends, approved dogs stay in Kristie’s home environment and receive daily positive reinforcement training, home-based structure, and routine-based learning. This is not a kennel-style program or harsh dog boot camp.

What is dog day training?

Dog day training is a trainer-led program where Kristie works directly with your dog during scheduled weekday sessions while your dog continues living at home. Families receive review sessions, homework, training guides, and practice instructions so the dog’s skills can transfer into everyday life.

What is the difference between dog day training and board and train?

Day training allows your dog to stay at home while Kristie comes to you for scheduled training sessions. Board and train is a more immersive option where your dog stays in Kristie’s home for a structured training program. Both programs include owner coaching and follow-through support, but board and train requires approval because the dog must be a safe fit for Kristie’s home, resident dogs, and daily routines.

How much does dog day training and board and train cost?

FurBabies & Friends offers two dog day training programs for dogs 7 months and older. Delightful Dog Day Training is a 6-week program for $1,500. Perfect Pooch Day Training is a 10-week program for $2,750. Dog Board and Train is a selective 2-week program starting at $3,200. Final recommendations depend on your dog’s age, goals, behavior, location, and program fit.

Is board and train worth it?

Board and train can be worth it for dogs who need more structure, consistency, and trainer-led support than weekly lessons can provide. However, long-term success depends on owner follow-through. Dogs learn in context, so skills built in Kristie’s home still need to be practiced and reinforced after your dog returns home.

Will my dog stay trained after board and train?

Your dog can make meaningful progress during board and train, but no program can guarantee that behavior will stay the same without continued practice. That is why FurBabies & Friends includes four one-hour handoff sessions, a take-home training guide, homework worksheets, real-life tracking sheets, and video library access to help your family maintain the training at home.

Is dog boot camp the same as board and train?

Some people use “dog boot camp” to describe intensive dog training, but FurBabies & Friends does not use harsh boot camp methods. Our board and train and day training programs use positive reinforcement, structure, management, clear communication, and owner education. We do not use shock collars, prong collars, choke chains, fear-based corrections, or dominance-based training methods.

Do you use positive reinforcement for board and train and day training?

Yes. FurBabies & Friends uses force-free, positive reinforcement training methods for day training and board and train. Training focuses on building skills, improving communication, supporting better choices, and helping families understand how to continue the work at home.

What dogs are eligible for board and train?

Board and train is available by approval only. Dogs must complete an evaluation or temperament assessment, be current on required vaccines, be safe around resident dogs, be safe for in-home handling, and be able to rest safely in a crate. Adult dogs must be over 40 pounds for safety reasons. Puppies under 6 months may be considered on a case-by-case basis, even if they are under 40 pounds.

Can reactive or aggressive dogs do board and train?

Some dogs with mild behavior challenges may be considered, but board and train is not the right fit for every reactive or aggressive dog. Dogs with bite history, severe aggression, severe separation anxiety, unsafe dog-to-dog behavior, or high-risk handling concerns may need private training, leash reactivity training, veterinary behavior support, or a different plan first. All board and train dogs must be evaluated and approved before acceptance.
