What Drop-In Pet Sitting Can Include:

Depending on the visit length and your care plan, services may include:

Shorter visits are limited in scope. Feeding, medication, litter care, multiple pets, longer walks, or detailed household tasks may require a 30-minute or longer visit.

Important to Know About Drop-In Sitter Assignments

Please note: Drop-in pet sitting does not guarantee the same sitter for every visit.
Drop-in visits may be shared among more than one approved FurBabies & Friends pet sitter based on scheduling, location, and availability. This means your pets may not always have the same sitter for every drop-in visit.

Before service begins, you receive:

*  The full visit schedule
*  The sitter assigned to each visit
*  Expected visit times
*  Contact information for the assigned sitters
*  A shared group message with you, Kristie, and everyone caring for your pets

Every assigned sitter follows the same documented care plan, and Kristie remains involved in the communication throughout your reservation. This team-based model helps provide dependable coverage, clearer backup support, and another trained set of eyes on your pets and home.

In-home overnight pet sitting provides extended companionship, supervision, and routine support while your pets remain comfortable in their own home.

One Consistent Sitter for Your Reservation

*  Home access and security procedures are confirmed
*  Sleeping, feeding, potty, and household expectations are discussed

Another trained sitter would only step in if an unexpected emergency prevented the scheduled sitter from continuing.

You, your sitter, and Kristie remain connected through a shared group message throughout the reservation.

Limited In-Home Dog Boarding, By Approval

Dogs staying in a home environment during a boarding visit in Glendale ArizonaFurBabies & Friends 2026 Platinum kennel winner in Glendale, AZ
Limited in-home dog boarding may be available for approved dogs whose families prefer a private home environment instead of a traditional boarding facility.

Because boarding occurs in Kristie's home and may involve resident dogs, availability is intentionally limited. Each dog must complete an assessment and meet the household’s health, behavior, and safety requirements before care can be confirmed.

Boarding Requirements:

Dogs must:

*  Be friendly and safe around people and other dogs
*  Complete a temperament assessment
*  Be crate trained
*  Be current on required vaccinations
*  Be spayed or neutered if older than six months
*  Weigh more than 40 pounds if they are an adult dog

Puppies under six months may be considered even if they weigh less than 40 pounds.

Approval depends on the individual dog, requested dates, current resident dogs, and available space. Completing an assessment does not guarantee boarding availability.

Boarding Versus Overnight Pet Sitting

With in-home boarding, your dog stays in an approved caregiver’s home. With overnight pet sitting, one sitter stays with your pets in your own home.

Boarding includes routine feeding, medication when appropriate, potty care, exercise, companionship, and updates based on the dog’s approved care plan.

A Pet Sitting Team Built for Reliable Coverage

Some pet parents are accustomed to one sitter completing every visit. FurBabies & Friends uses a coordinated team model for drop-in pet sitting, so visits may be shared among approved sitters based on location, timing, and availability.

Your pets are not assigned to random caregivers. Every scheduled sitter is part of the FurBabies & Friends team, follows the same documented care plan, and remains connected with you and Kristie throughout the reservation.

Before working independently, every FurBabies & Friends pet sitter completes screening, an in-person interview, a background check, hands-on shadowing, and final approval.

Benefits of a Team-Based Care Model

A team-based model provides practical safeguards that a single-sitter arrangement cannot always offer.

More dependable coverage

Your pet’s care does not depend entirely on one person remaining available throughout your reservation. If a sitter becomes ill, experiences an emergency, or encounters a serious scheduling delay, another trained team member can provide coverage.

Another trained set of eyes

Different sitters may notice changes in appetite, mobility, behavior, waste, skin, energy, or the home environment. Each sitter documents relevant observations so concerns can be addressed rather than overlooked.

Fresh attention during longer reservations

Reservations with multiple daily visits can be demanding. Sharing visits among qualified team members helps each sitter arrive prepared, attentive, and focused on your pets’ care.

Greater familiarity with the care team

Pets who are comfortable with new people may benefit from becoming familiar with more than one approved caregiver. This can make future reservations or unexpected backup coverage less disruptive.

The sitter may change, but the care plan does not. Every assigned sitter follows the same documented instructions, scheduled visit length, care standards, and communication process. Kristie remains included in the shared communication and oversees the reservation.

How Our Pet Sitting Process Keeps Care Organized

Reliable pet sitting starts before the first visit. FurBabies & Friends documents your pets, home, routines, access instructions, emergency information, and care expectations so every assigned sitter arrives prepared and follows the same plan.

Detailed preparation helps every sitter know what your pets need, where care items are located, how your home should be secured, and what to do if something unexpected occurs.
1

Confirm Availability and Complete Your Forms

Tell us about your dates, location, pets, and preferred type of care. Once availability is confirmed, new clients complete standardized household, care, veterinary, emergency, policy, liability, and preparation documents.

These forms organize the information needed to care for your pets, enter and secure your home, respond to medical needs, and arrange continued care if your return is unexpectedly delayed.
2

Complete the Meet and Greet

For drop-in and hourly care, Kristie personally completes the in-home meet and greet. Overnight clients meet directly with the sitter assigned to their reservation.

We review routines, medications, behavior, access, security, supplies, household requests, and emergency instructions before service begins.
3

Map the Home and Care Routine

Photos and detailed notes document your pets, entry method, supplies, medications, feeding areas, litter boxes, leashes, enclosures, outdoor areas, and other care-task locations.

This prevents important information from depending on one sitter’s memory and reduces avoidable questions while you are away.
4

Receive Your Schedule and Coordinated Updates

Before care begins, you receive your detailed schedule, assigned sitter information, and a shared group message with the client, Kristie, and everyone caring for the pets.

During service, the group receives arrival notices, photos, care summaries, observations, household-task confirmations, and schedule updates in one place.

The “Friends” in FurBabies & Friends Need Care Too

Pets come in every size, species, personality, and level of need. Some want constant companionship, while others are more independent, but every pet still depends on someone to keep them safe, comfortable, and cared for when their family is away.

Every pet deserves dependable care, no matter their species. FurBabies & Friends helps families live their ideal life with the pets they love, furry or not.

Dogs

Dogs often need more than food and a quick check-in. They rely on human interaction, movement, routine, reassurance, and companionship to feel secure while their family is away.

Our dog clients receive familiar, in-home care designed to help them feel safe, seen, and connected until their people return.

Puppies

Puppies are still learning how the world works. Changes in routine, longer periods alone, and missed opportunities for reassurance can feel especially difficult during this stage.

Thoughtful puppy care gives them the attention, consistency, and human connection they need while helping pet parents continue living their lives without leaving their puppy unsupported.

Cats

Cats may be independent, but they are not unaffected by change. Many feel safest in their own home, surrounded by familiar scents, hiding places, routines, and spaces.

Whether a cat seeks constant affection or prefers quiet companionship from a distance, dependable care helps them feel secure while their family is away.

Other Household Pets

Birds, reptiles, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and other household pets may not ask for attention in the same way dogs or cats do, but they still depend completely on people for their safety and daily well-being.

Their food, water, habitats, temperature, routines, and comfort still matter. The “Friends” in FurBabies & Friends means no pet in the household is treated as an afterthought.

Pet Sitting FAQs for Glendale and the Phoenix West Valley

How far in advance should I book a pet sitter in Glendale or the Phoenix West Valley?

Contact FurBabies & Friends as soon as your travel dates are confirmed. Availability is more limited during holidays, spring break, summer travel periods, and other popular vacation times.

Booking early also gives new clients enough time to complete the required forms, confirm home access, and schedule the complimentary meet and greet before care begins.

Do you offer last-minute or emergency pet sitting?

We make every reasonable effort to accommodate last-minute requests, but availability is not guaranteed.

Established clients are generally easier to schedule because their forms, care instructions, and home access information are already on file. New clients must complete the required onboarding and meet and greet before service can begin. Applicable last-minute service fees may also apply.

Will the same pet sitter complete every visit?

It depends on the type of pet sitting service.

Drop-in visits may be shared among approved FurBabies & Friends sitters based on location, timing, and availability. Before service begins, you receive a detailed schedule showing who is assigned to each visit.

Hourly care is assigned to one sitter for the scheduled care block. Overnight pet sitting is assigned to one consistent sitter for the full reservation, except if an unexpected emergency requires backup coverage.

What happens if my assigned pet sitter becomes unavailable?

Because FurBabies & Friends operates as a coordinated team, Kristie can arrange for another approved sitter to step in when unexpected illness, emergencies, or serious scheduling problems occur.

The replacement sitter receives access to the same documented care instructions, household information, schedule, and communication process. You will be informed of any necessary staffing change.

How are FurBabies & Friends pet sitters screened and prepared?

Pet sitters complete an initial screening process, multiple interviews, an in-person meeting with Kristie, a background check, hands-on shadowing, and final approval before working independently.

Every sitter is also expected to follow the same care, safety, home-security, scheduling, and communication standards. FurBabies & Friends pet sitters are bonded and insured through Pet Sitters & Associates.

Can you administer medication or care for pets with special needs?

In many cases, yes. We may provide routine medication and individualized care for puppies, senior pets, multi-pet households, pets with mobility limitations, and pets with established medical routines.

Medication instructions must be complete and the pet must allow the medication to be administered safely. Complex medical needs are reviewed before booking so we can determine whether the requested care is within the team’s capabilities.

Can you care for shy, fearful, reactive, or bite-history pets?

Possibly. Temperament, handling concerns, reactivity, escape risks, and all bite history must be disclosed before service begins.

Additional introductions, safety equipment, handling precautions, or special-handling fees may be required. FurBabies & Friends may decline or discontinue service when a pet cannot be handled safely by the assigned care team.

What happens if my pet becomes sick or injured while I am away?

Most definitely! We care for dogs, cats, and many other household pets. If you have birds, reptiles, small animals, fish or other various pets, contact us with details so we can confirm care requirements.

Will my pet sitter also water plants or bring in mail?

Yes, light home care is typically included such as bringing in mail, rotating lights, pulling window coverings, and watering plants based on your instructions.

This helps your home look lived in while you are traveling and provides additional peace of mind.

How far in advance should I book pet sitting in Glendale?

For best availability, we recommend booking as early as possible, especially for holidays, spring break, and summer travel season in Arizona.

Last minute requests are sometimes possible, but availability is limited during peak travel dates.

What is your cancellation policy for pet sitting?

Our cancellation policy depends on the type of booking and the time of year. Holiday periods often require more notice due to limited availability and high demand.

If you need to change your dates, contact us as soon as possible so we can work with you on the best solution.

How do you handle emergencies during pet sitting?

FurBabies & Friends will contact you, notify Kristie, and follow your written veterinary and emergency-care instructions. When veterinary treatment is needed, your pet may be taken to your preferred veterinarian or the nearest appropriate emergency clinic.

New clients complete a veterinary release and provide emergency contact information before travel. If you cannot be reached during a time-sensitive emergency, the signed authorization allows the team to act in your pet’s best interest within the limits you established.

What should I prepare before pet sitting begins?

Complete all requested care, household, veterinary, emergency, policy, and liability forms before your reservation. Leave sufficient food, medication, treats, leashes, litter, cleaning supplies, habitat supplies, and other care items in an accessible location.

You should also confirm home access, alarm instructions, emergency contacts, veterinary information, feeding routines, medication directions, behavior concerns, and any areas that are off limits to pets or sitters.

What happens if my return trip is delayed?

Contact the shared group message as soon as you learn that your return has been delayed. Kristie will determine whether the current sitter or another approved team member is available to continue care.

Additional visits or extended care are subject to sitter availability and will be billed based on the service required. Do not assume care can automatically continue without confirming the revised schedule.

How do you adjust pet sitting visits during extreme Arizona heat?

During extreme heat, outdoor activity may be shortened or modified to protect your pet’s safety. Dogs may receive brief shaded potty breaks followed by indoor companionship or enrichment instead of an extended outdoor walk.

Sitters also monitor water access, comfort, behavior, and visible signs of heat stress. Puppies, senior pets, short-nosed breeds, and pets with medical concerns may require additional precautions or a modified care plan.

Is in-home pet sitting better than dog boarding?

In-home pet sitting is often a good fit for pets who are most comfortable in familiar surroundings and benefit from maintaining their normal feeding, sleeping, medication, and household routines.

Limited in-home dog boarding may be appropriate for approved dogs who are comfortable staying in a caregiver’s home with resident dogs. The best option depends on your pet’s behavior, supervision needs, routine, household, and service availability.
