2/14/27 AKC Canine Good Citizen CGC Prep Class, 8:30 AM is a 6-week positive reinforcement group dog training class in Glendale, AZ designed for dogs and handlers preparing for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. This class is hosted by FurBabies & Friends and focuses on real-world manners, handler communication, calm behavior, and reliable obedience skills around distractions.

The Canine Good Citizen program is built around 10 practical skills that help dogs become more polite, confident, and manageable in public settings.

What Your Dog Will Practice:

• Appearance and grooming handling
• Loose leash walking
• Walking through a small crowd
• Sit, down, stay, and release

Class Goals:

The goal of this class is to help you and your dog become a more connected, confident team while preparing for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.

This class is not just about passing a test. It is about helping your dog build practical manners that are useful at home, in public, and around real-life distractions.

Final Class CGC Test:

The final class includes the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Each dog will be tested individually during the final session. Kristie is an approved AKC CGC Evaluator and will administer the evaluation.

Pet parents are responsible for submitting any official CGC certificate or title paperwork directly through AKC after passing.

Who This Is Best For:

This class is ideal for dogs who have completed a basic obedience class or have equivalent foundation skills. Dogs should already understand basic cues such as sit, down, stand, watch or attention, stay with release, name recall, come, and loose leash walking.

This class is best for dogs who can safely work around people and other dogs in an outdoor group setting with limited to no reactivity.

Requirements:

• Pre-registration is required
• Proof of current vaccinations is required, including Rabies, Distemper/Parvo or DAPP, and Bordetella
• A signed release of liability is required
• Completion of Beginner Obedience is required, or equivalent foundation skills must be approved before class
• Dogs must be safe in a group setting
• This class is not suitable for human-aggressive dogs or uncontrolled dog-reactive dogs
• Bring high-value treats, water, and a standard leash
• Retractable leashes are not allowed

Schedule and Format:

This class includes 6 sessions over 6 weeks. Each session is 1 hour.

The class meets Sundays, February 14, 2027 through March 21, 2027, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
