Intermediate Tricks is a fun, upbeat outdoor group class that focuses on cue fluency, creative movement, trick combinations, distance skills, confidence, and freestyle-inspired sequences. This class is a great next step for dogs who have completed Beginner Tricks or already know basic trick behaviors and are ready for more challenge, precision, and teamwork.

What Your Dog Will Learn

In this class, dogs and handlers will work on intermediate trick training skills, including:

• Cue fluency and transition practice
• Intermediate tricks such as wave hello, wave goodbye, crawl, speak, quiet, paws up, kisses, jump, and bang or play dead
• Freestyle concepts such as building chains and combining tricks into short sequences
• Distance and directional cues
• Duration, distraction, and distance work
• Impulse control and creative trick combinations
• Confidence and precision in outdoor environments
• Final graduation performance

Class Goals

The goal of this class is to help your dog better understand verbal cues, visual cues, body positioning, transitions, and more complex trick sequences. You will learn how to build clearer communication, improve timing, strengthen engagement, and create fun trick combinations using force-free, positive reinforcement training methods.

This class is designed for pet parents who want to continue their dog’s training beyond basic obedience and beginner tricks. Whether you are interested in dog enrichment, future AKC Trick Dog goals, canine freestyle foundations, or simply having more fun with your dog, Intermediate Tricks is a great next step.

Requirements

Beginner Tricks completion is recommended, or dogs should have equivalent foundation skills such as touch, spin or twirl, basic engagement, marker understanding, and the ability to work around other dogs and people in a small outdoor group setting.

Dogs should be friendly, treat-motivated, and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. This class is not designed for dogs with significant reactivity, aggression, or extreme fear in group environments.
